What makes a leader trustworthy? People trust leaders who are dependable, honest, and transparent. To be a trustworthy leader, you must also care about meeting the needs of your team members. Some leaders are trustworthy because they earn trust through what they do, how they treat people, and what values guide them. Other leaders are responsible for their character—honor, integrity, empathy, dependability. These two qualities aren\’t mutually exclusive; I believe the latter is a prerequisite for the former. A leader\’s actions must be aligned with their values for their people to be able to trust them. There are countless examples of leaders who talk about honesty and integrity but then act dishonest or unethical.
